WNY Shiba Inu Rescue began in 2004 when it became apparent to me that so many individuals fell in love with the fox-like, adorable face of the Red Shiba Inu, but were unprepared for their willful, feisty nature and left them stranded in shelters across the nation.
My love for these little alpha creatures is the driving force behind my rescue, but I also work to educate the pet-seeking public on the breed characteristics of the Shiba prior to making a 20 year commitment to their canine companion.
As a result of much networking, WNY Shiba Inu Rescue is a member of the NYC Mayor's Alliance for Animal Rescue, a New Hope Partner for the Greater NYC Animal Control Center, an officially sponsored rescue for the PetCo Corporation, and is presently working on a collaborative effort to save alpha breed dogs by brokering an ongoing rescue effort between the NYC Animal Control Center and the Niagara County SPCA.
